ABOUT ABOUT

Ad Astra Per Apta: Creating joy and success in your classroom with active Latin
Presenter:  Justin Slocum Bailey, Founder of InDwelling Language

Thanks to a generous grant from the Classical Association of the Atlantic States, the Tri-State Area Latin Consortium (TALC) has invited Justin Slocum Bailey to present a 6-hour workshop to members and other Latin teachers in the greater Philadelphia area. The workshop will focus on theories of second-language acquisition, practice in spoken Latin, improving reading ability, and spoken Latin/CI activities for use in the Latin classroom.  Participants will be given the tools they need to incorporate spoken Latin in their classrooms immediately. Following the workshop, participants are invited to join Justin for dinner and continued conversation at the Draught Horse Pub & Grill across the street.

The workshop is being hosted by Temple University's Department of Greek & Roman Classics and will be held in conjunction with a lecture by Justin Slocum Bailey on Friday, November 13 at 4pm in the Weigley Room on the 9th floor of Gladfelter Hall at Temple University. This lecture is free and open to the public, but will be geared towards Temple University’s Latin students, Classics majors, and Classics faculty.

TALC is an informal group of Latin teachers and classicists in the Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey area, mostly located in the greater Philadelphia region. The goal of TALC is to allow those in the area to connect, both professionally and personally, with others in the profession.
